Chef Enrique Hernandez – Desperados Mexican Restaurant

Talk about having Dallas at heart. This family was instrumental in saving one of the largest parades in Dallas history and supporting scholarships at the same time. That’s what I call a true double-dip. Chef Enrique Hernandez of Desperados will be at Palette to Palate to serve delicacies de Mexico.

About the Owner

Jorge Levy was 29 when he opened Desperados Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant relied heavily on his mother’s recipes. Levy, who by then was married and the father of two children, bought out his partners, and became a fixture on the Dallas restaurant scene. Inspired by his success and dedication, his sons followed him into the restaurant business. Now, as the Desperados begins its 41st year of operation, Levy is all about giving back to the country and city he loves. He was the founder and organizer of the Desperados Cinco de Mayo Celebration for Children, a festival to benefit different charitable organizations in the greater Dallas area. He serves as president of the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association and oversees the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, whose proceeds go to a scholarship fund.
